Wow. My entire life, making caramels at home seemed impossible, like only the pros could do that.
But it’s so simple!!
And you don’t have to worry about added in caramel coloring, corn syrups and cane sugar.
These caramels melt in your mouth. They make the perfect homemade gift 🤍
Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
1 cup maple syrup (I use maple syrup we brought back from Vermont and stuff from Costco, but this brand is great too)
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream OR 1/2 cup of coconut cream (I use the organic valley brand at Loves Whole Foods)
2 tbsp of butter (I used Meyenberg goat butter from Loves Whole Foods)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp sea salt (we like this salt)
Directions:
Line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper and set aside.
In a saucepan, add maple syrup and butter and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Slowly whisk in the heavy whipping cream or coconut cream, whichever you chose to use.
Continue to cook until the caramel reaches a temperature of 235-240 degrees F, stirring regularly.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
Pour into prepared pan and put in your fridge for 2 hours.
Once firm, cut into squares, lift out, and wrap in parchment (this is the hardest part because the caramel is so sticky, but stick with it (pun intended), it will be worth it!
Store in the fridge!
Enjoy and God Bless,
Taylor
